It is true that at the outset of WWII, the US govt. made a decision that any American citizen who had fought in the Lincoln Brigades during the Spanish Civil War would be refused induction into the US armed forces. They passed up hundreds, maybe thousands, of combat veterans, willing and eager to fight the Nazis, because of politics. IF it is also true that their paperwork was stamped with a rubberstamp that said 'Prematurely Anti-Fascist', I would like to have one of those.
