Adiantum Fight Practice.
Feb. 21st, 2013 07:50 amSo, technically speaking I don’t have much to say about heavy practice last night. I made no breakthroughs, had no insights, didn’t fight particularly well. But I got out there, swung and thrust, took some hits, and quit when I felt my shoulder tightening up. So there’s that.
Then I had a very interesting chat with Geneva Day about ‘starting over’ with heavy fighting. And about training techniques and teaching styles: all that stuff we tend to neglect in the SCA, with our emphasis on “full-speed open sparring”.
Finally, Geneva and I talked technique with a boy, oh, maybe eight years old? He was fun, and had a better (intuitive?) grasp of what’s possible and what isn’t than most kids that age. He could grow up to be a smart man.
Thanks all.
